Awesome to see the wall murals unveiled at the skatepark today! Thank you to the talented artists, Friends of the Roc City Skatepark, and the City of Rochester, especially the Departments of Recreation and Human Services and of Environmental Services for making this happen.

Skateistan

We believe in the rights of refugees to determine their own path in life. Today is World Refugee Day, and we want to highlight our programs that aim to support the mental and physical health of displaced children, and provide an outlet for them to have fun while making new friends.

We began working with refugees this year as we embarked on our New Chapter, to rebuild our programs in Afghanistan and plant roots in new locations and grow our skateboarding community. Now, we are currently working with refugees in Albania, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and the USA. Skateistan students in refugee camps use skateboarding as a tool to bridge cultural differences, language barriers, and meeting a new community in an adopted home.

Our work in these locations wouldn't have been possible without our amazing partners KAPOW Fedasil Rookie Slash Friends of the Roc City Skatepark and Just.Childhood
